Fine copy of an exceptionally scarce, authentically inscribed and signed [ ‘To Caytlin, J.K. Rowling’] first edition, first printing of The Tales of Beedle the Bard. This highly sought-after collector’s item was signed by J.K. Rowling during the launch event on 4 December 2008, held at the National Library of Scotland in Edinburgh. The event featured a private reading by Rowling, and the children invited to attend were selected through a random ballot. Up to 20 pupils from 10 local schools, aged eight to 11, had the unique opportunity to participate. This copy bears the hologram that was to authenticate signed copies at this event, however, these holograms were placed in the book after signing by an assistant and a number of copies are known to have been signed but did not receive a hologram.
Given the scarcity of signed copies and the fact that The Tales of Beedle the Bard is one of the most frequently forged signed titles in Rowling’s catalog, this authentic copy represents a unique and valuable opportunity for collectors.
Fully authenticated by J.K. Rowling signature expert Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, the book comes with a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) and a collector’s card providing additional interesting details.
