Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – signed with a historically significant inscription

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – signed with a historically significant inscription

First softcover edition, later impression of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, signed and inscribed (“To Barbara, I love unashamed grown-up fans!”) on the half-title page in black ink.

In the early period following the book’s release on 26 June 1997, there was still a certain reluctance among adult readers to openly embrace a work initially presented as a children’s book. As a result, it was relatively uncommon for adults to attend signing events or have copies personally inscribed by J. K. Rowling. This candid and characteristically warm inscription reflects that transitional moment in the reception of the series, acknowledging a growing but still hesitant adult readership.

This unread copy remains in almost fine condition. The covers are exceptionally well preserved, with bright colours, sharp spine ends, and only minimal pushing to the corners. The binding is firm and square. A few very light, almost imperceptible marks to the bookedges. Internally clean, free from names, additional inscriptions, or dog-ears. The pages are notably fresh, without the usual browning to the edges.

Inscribed paperback copies featuring the image of Dumbledore on the rear cover are rare.

A highly collectable example, distinguished by an inscription of clear historical resonance.
