First edition, very early 8th paperback printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed by J.K. Rowling in black ink on the dedication page. The book was signed for the previous owner, Genevieve, at Whitworth Hall, Manchester.
The eighth paperback printing was published in early November 1997, only a few months after the first printing, and was produced in a similarly modest print run. Signed copies from these early paperback printings are very uncommon.
Following the book's win of the 1997 Smarties Book Prize Gold Award, Smarties award stickers were produced and applied to a number of copies from this print run. In later printings, the Smarties logo was incorporated directly into the cover design rather than applied as a sticker.
This Good copy has been well read, with the majority of wear visible on the covers. The Smarties sticker is no longer present, resulting in some surface loss to the cover illustration, which also shows further signs of use. The book is priced accordingly. The interior remains in very good condition. A few pages show a light crease at the top edge. There are no names, inscriptions, or other writing inside the book.
Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, the world’s sole expert on J.K. Rowling’s signature, as well as a collector's card.
