One of only 25 specially produced copies of the first English Deluxe edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, each featuring an original full-colour pencil illustration by Cliff Wright. This example is signed and numbered 8/25 by the artist.
The illustration, executed in 2020, depicts the memorable scene from Chapter 5, The Whomping Willow, capturing Harry and Ron’s ill-fated arrival at Hogwarts in the flying Ford Anglia. Each artwork was drawn directly onto the dedication page of a fine-condition Deluxe edition, resulting in subtle, individual variations across the edition.
This project was undertaken in collaboration with Adam Houston (TheHarryPotterSpecialist) and represents the first occasion on which Wright revisited this subject in colour since producing the original artwork for the 1998 edition.
The book is housed in a bespoke clamshell case with a signed and numbered certificate by Wright affixed to the inside. Also included are two original photographs showing the artist at work on the illustration, along with a Letter of Authenticity issued by Houston.
