First edition, early 14th UK Bloomsbury printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone published in 1997 paired with a first edition, early seventh UK Bloomsbury printing of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, published in 1998. This set comes in an original 1998 UK Bloomsbury “The Harry Potter Gift set” booksleeve.
Philosopher’s Stone features the original illustration of the brown-haired young wizard on the reverse and spine, which was replaced by an image of Dumbledore in later printings. The very early edition of Chamber of Secrets does not yet have the Hogwarts shield on the title pages which was used in all subsequent printings.
Both books are in excellent condition, binding is firm, the inside is completely clean without inscriptions and without any defects. The near-fine first state dust jackets have minor fading towards the spine, otherwise fine without shelfwear or edgewear. Both jackets are now protected by removable Brodart archival book covers. The sleeve is in excellent condition without shelf wear.
