Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, first Hardback edition, third printing - signed
Fine copy of the scarce and highly sought-after third printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone with a very early signed Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone postcard loosely inserted. The postcard is accompanied by a rare ‘OWL Post’ letter by J.K. Rowling, dated 28/08/00. Included is a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) by J.K. Rowling signature expert Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, along with a collector's card detailing this rare signed item.
Number line of 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3; copyright page credits Joanne Rowling with no space between Thomas Taylor and year 1997; drawing of a young wizard on the back and spine of both book and dust jacket. According to Errington [p.4] the third printing had a publication figure of only 500 hardback copies. It was the first edition to be issued in a dust jacket, which differs in colour tones from the dust jackets of all subsequent editions.
The cover is in fine condition, with sharp spine ends and corners. The binding is tight, the endpapers are clean, and there are no marks, inscriptions, or stamps. The pages are clean and bright, with the usual browning to the edges. The first edition unclipped dust jacket has some discoloration on the top edge of the inside but is otherwise fine, with vibrant colors and no fading, shelf wear, or edgewear. The book is housed in a custom-made half-leather clamshell box.
