Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – Scarce First Hardcover Edition, 9th Printing
Rare first edition, 9th UK Bloomsbury Hardcover printing, number line of 10 9. Copyright page credits Joanne Rowling, drawing of a young wizard on the back of the book and dust jacket.
Because there are no hardback sixth and seventh prints, the 9th print is actually the seventh, with a very small printrun, which mistakenly contains the original text of the first edition, including the misprint on page 53 ( ‘1 Wand' twice). This misprint was corrected after the first print and for unknown reasons is again present in only the 8th and 9th UK Bloomsbury Hardback printings. Special about this copy is that the Dust Jacket lacks the £10,99 price on the inner flap. This only occurs with some copies of the 4th or 5th printings, so the printer used a dust jacket from one of these earlier printings.
The book is in a near fine condition. Pictorial boards have only very minor bumped spine ends and sharp corners. Clean end papers, no marks, inscriptions, or stamps. Firm binding, book seems unread. Pages are clean and bright, with minor browning as usual. The unclipped Dust Jacket has has vibrant colors and only very minor wear. An excellent copy.
