Truly unique (1/1) signed set of the second UK hardback edition of Harry Potter (illustrated by Jonny Duddle)

A complete set of the second UK hardback edition of the Harry Potter books, each signed by J.K. Rowling in blue ink on a gold-edged bookplate affixed to the title page. This is the only known signed set of this edition ever to appear on the market. Since the publisher has recently updated the typeface of this edition to match the iconic Warner Bros. font, no further signed sets of this kind will ever be available. A rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a truly one-of-a-kind, complete signed Harry Potter book set.

Each volume includes the official J.K. Rowling hologram sticker on the first endpaper. The  gold-edged bookplate which was first used by Rowling in 2014 to refine the signature of her alias, Robert Galbraith—see her Twitter/X post from 14 June 2014 for reference. Over the past decade, this bookplate has been used very sporadically.

The set was sold at a silent auction held by DEBRA Scotland during a fundraising dinner at the Scottish Grand National event at Ayr Racecourse. Attendance to the exclusive dinner, where the auction took place, required a £250 ticket to reserve a place.

Over the past fifteen years, J.K. Rowling has focused almost all of her charitable activity through her own foundations, such as the Volant Charitable Trust and Lumos. A donation of signed Harry Potter books to an outside organisation like DEBRA is therefore highly unusual. However, Rowling’s office confirmed in an email to us that she personally donated the set to DEBRA to support their fundraising efforts. Includes a signed letter from the previous owner and a photo of the presentation of the set at the DEBRA silent auction and a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of TheHarryPotterSpecialist, the world’s sole expert on J.K. Rowling’s signature.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is the 11th printing; Chamber of Secrets the 10th; Prisoner of Azkaban also the 10th; Goblet of Fire the 9th; Order of the Phoenix the 9th; Half-Blood Prince the 10th; and Deathly Hallows the 9th.
